Job Description:

Responsible for the identification and management of counterparty credit risk of new and existing Payment Services partner relationships across the Discover Global Network for DN, DCI and Pulse including key Acquirers, Issuers, Networks, Processors and Merchants. Responsible for analyzing the credit risk of these partners utilizing detailed financial statement analysis, independently conducting negotiations regarding required mitigation and contract terms. The role is also responsible for providing training and guidance to less experienced team members. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

Responsibilities

  • Manages project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope. Sets strategy and leads mitigation discussions through the relationship lifecycle, including bankruptcy. Innovates, closes gaps, streamlines processes, and assists with projects both internal to the team and within Payments Risk.

  • Develops and maintains internal tools and databases supporting risk processes. Analyzes the portfolio for financial stability and provides training. Analyzes new business processes to identify where direct and indirect financial risk is present in the transaction flow and mitigates them.

  • Collaborates with various subject matter experts (SMEs) within the first line of defense to ensure controls are adequately designed to mitigate operational and compliance risks through process monitoring functions. Serves as a liaison and supports the business unit with consulting and project management reviews. Seeks input from stakeholders who may be affected by changes in new or revised policies and procedures; provides ongoing advice, consultation, and feedback on policies and procedures.

  • Collection and follow up to request financial statements for all partners in assigned portfolio.

  • Analyzes portfolio of assigned partners for financial stability utilizing detailed financial statement analysis of both US domestic and International partners.

  • Evaluates reporting, systems capabilities and develop/maintain procedures. Ensures that documentation and training material is accurate and current.

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Information Technology, International Business, Business Administration and Management or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in the Commercial Credit or Acquiring, Payments, or related experience

  • 2+ years of analyzing the Financial Statements of businesses using GAAP and/or IFRS

  • In lieu of a degree, 6+ years of experience in Commercial Credit or Banking, Payments or related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $65,000.00 to $109,800.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
